An Example of a broadband mast

Addressing the very real problem of social isolation but in a different way is the parish church of St Michael and All Angels in Buckland Dinham.  With the help of the diocesan parish resources team, the church has partnered with a local internet company to help provide reliable, super-fast broadband to local residents by having wireless equipment installed on the church tower.

Vicar, Revd Clive Fairclough says, “This area suffers from notoriously slow and patchy broadband from the large national providers, it was having a big impact on local residents, not least local businesses.  Having the wifi equipment installed on the church tower means that local people now have the option of super-fast broadband, just like everyone else.  Digital connectivity is hugely important for things like accessing public services, connecting people who live alone with family and friends elsewhere and job opportunities.  We are delighted to be able to serve our community and neighbouring villages in this way.”
