The Great Harvest Trail 2019

To celebrate the season of harvest our five churches working together to organise a weekend flower festival with music, services and harvest suppers.

We're working with Love British Food and Somerset Young Farmers, and we will be hosting the Harvest Torch.

The Harvest Torch is coming to Somerset in 2019. It was commissioned by Love British Food from master blacksmith Andy Hall, and each year it is the focus of harvest celebrations in a different cathredral. It will be taken to different events around the county ending with a harvest celebration in Wells Cathedral.

We’re calling this the Great Harvest Trail, jointly organised by the Diocese of Bath & Wells, Somerset Young Farmers Club and the Mells Group of Parishes.

Love British Food promotes British produce, focusing on British Food Fortnight (21 September to 6 October). It’s sponsored on a national level by the Coop.

On its way around Somerset, the Harvest Torch will come to our five parishes.

Each church is putting a flower display, and there will also be concerts, craft demonstrations, teas, bulb planting, a barn dance and more – all designed to engage with local families and children. And we’re identifying walking and cycling routes between the churches, as a local harvest trail.
