Safeguarding

Safeguarding refers to measures that are put in place to protect children, young people and vulnerable adults, which allow them to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

Safeguarding in the church community – making our churches safe for children, young people and vulnerable adults – is everyone’s responsibility.

It means ensuring that everyone who works with children or vulnerable people has a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service), that we have a clear route for people to report any concerns, and that we have appointed someone to be responsible for safeguarding across our five parishes.

There is more information about safeguarding in the Church of England on the Diocese website: https://www.bathandwells.org.uk/diocese/safeguarding/

There is currently a vacancy for Safeguarding Officer in our benefice, so if you wish to report concerns or abuse in any of the Mells Group churches please contact the Diocese safeguarding officer at safe.guarding@bathwells.anglican.org
